Effective supply chain management is essential to RAFI’s electronics manufacturing operations, ensuring reliable production and delivery capacity for our customers. Our approach aims to strike a balance between costs and security of supply and is characterized by several strategic pillars.
A core principle of this approach is our multisourcing strategy. It mitigates risk by sourcing components from a variety of qualified suppliers. This reduces dependency on individual sources and increases flexibility in the event of unforeseen supply bottlenecks or market fluctuations. The aim is to ensure continuous material availability without neglecting cost structures.
Direct and personal relationships with international semiconductor manufacturers are another critical factor for success. These close partnerships provide not only preferential access to allocated components but also early insights into technology roadmaps and development plans. Through direct collaboration, technical requirements can be precisely aligned and opportunities for joint innovation leveraged, ultimately enhancing the quality and future viability of our products.
International procurement is managed through our global purchasing organization and our established sourcing office in Taiwan. This network enables us to tap into procurement markets worldwide and access a wide range of suppliers. The office in Asia in particular plays a key role in efficiently serving the dynamic Asian markets and diversifying procurement channels. This global presence is key to meeting the needs of our international customers and supporting the company’s strategic direction, thereby strengthening global competitiveness, supply security, and flexibility.
We support our supply chain management through the use of modern software tools. These applications enable continuous market price monitoring and analysis in order to identify and secure optimal purchasing conditions. At the same time, they are essential for the life cycle management of components, from design-in to the end-of-life of customer projects. They enable the early detection of product change notifications (PCNs) and obsolescence risks, allowing us to proactively qualify alternative solutions or adjust inventory levels. This ensures the long-term planning reliability and availability of electronic components for our customer projects.
