Whether in a factory, vehicle, field, or medical setting, modern devices and systems are always connected. Wireless data transmission, object localization, and connectivity to cloud services are therefore an integral part of industrial HMI and IoT solutions.

RAFI has many years of expertise in the development and integration of wireless technologies – from antennas to hardware and software development to regulatory approval in a variety of markets. RAFI’s wireless portfolio encompasses all relevant wireless technologies used in modern connected systems:

  • WiFi: RAFI brings extensive experience in WiFi integration, testing, and solution qualification, and supports the entire process all the way through to wireless approval.

  • Bluetooth: From the antenna to the hardware design to the firmware, RAFI develops energy-efficient Bluetooth solutions that are specifically optimized for battery-powered handheld devices. As a member of the Bluetooth SIG, RAFI is closely involved in the further development of the standard.

  • RFID & NFC: RAFI provides antenna design and integration for RFID applications and NFC integration for access control solutions, covering the entire spectrum from hardware design to sensor integration and system connectivity.

  • Mobile communications: RAFI covers the entire spectrum of mobile communications, from traditional standards, such as GSM, UMTS, and LTE, to modern IoT protocols, such as LTE-M and NB-IoT. Various SIM management options are available to ensure maximum flexibility for international use.

  • Navigation systems & telematics: RAFI integrates global satellite navigation systems such as Galileo and GPS to enable precise positioning in applications worldwide. In addition, RAFI develops telematics systems for use in vehicles that combine location data with other vehicle and operational information and transmit it via cellular networks to higher-level systems or cloud platforms – the foundation for modern fleet management, remote diagnostics, and connected vehicle solutions.

  • Proprietary wireless interfaces: In addition to standardized wireless technologies, RAFI also develops and integrates proprietary wireless solutions on license-free frequencies such as 433 MHz and 868 MHz. These frequency bands are particularly well-suited for applications involving low data volumes, long range, and low power consumption – such as industrial remote controls, sensor systems, or machine-side control tasks.

A particular focus is on regulatory compliance and global certification of wireless solutions. RAFI helps customers comply with country-specific guidelines, including the RED Guideline (EU), FCC (U.S.), and ISED (Canada).
