The quality of a touchscreen system isn’t determined only by the finished product; it begins with the manufacture of the core components. RAFI therefore relies on a high degree of in-house production at its own facility in Germany: from the production of ITO-based capacitive sensors to the optical bonding of displays – both from a single source, both meeting the highest quality standards.
The sensor is the heart of every capacitive touch system. RAFI manufactures capacitive glass and film sensors based on indium tin oxide (ITO) entirely in-house in Germany. ITO is a transparent, conductive material that is applied as a thin layer to glass or film substrates and serves as the basis for precise, touch-sensitive sensor technology.
By manufacturing its own products, RAFI maintains complete control over quality, availability, and the supply chain – independent of external suppliers and global procurement risks. Customers benefit from a guaranteed supply even over long product life cycles.
As a reliable partner for custom designs and tailored integration into the respective HMI system, RAFI supports the entire development process, from the initial design to a production-ready sensor solution.
With optical display bonding, the touch sensor, decorative glass, and display are bonded together using an optically clear adhesive (OCA) to form a single, sealed unit. Compared to displays with an air gap between the layers, this eliminates distracting reflections at the interfaces, which can significantly impair readability – especially in bright ambient light or when used outdoors.
The result is significantly greater image brilliance, enhanced image contrast, and improved readability under difficult lighting conditions. Optical display bonding makes these displays the top choice for outdoor applications, vehicles, and anywhere else where readability and optical quality are crucial. The bonding process also improves mechanical stability and resistance to moisture and vibrations.
